How to Make Amazing Non-Toxic, Long-Lasting, Organic Deodorant

Most of the commercial antiperspirants and deodorants we use are loaded with synthetic chemicals that enter the skin fast and might lead to irritations and hormonal imbalances.

Julie Gabriel, The Green Beauty Guide, claims that many antiperspirants contain aluminum, added to dry out sweat by injecting aluminum ions in the cells that line the sweat ducts. Yet, as soon as the aluminum ions penetrate into the cells, water flows in, so they start swelling and squeezing the ducts closed, to prevent sweat to get out. Yet, it is much better to use natural deodorants that allow sweat and toxins to leave the body instead of trapping them inside.

Moreover, deodorants mostly contain antimicrobial agents to prevent only body odor, but not the flow of sweat. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warns that the frequent use of such antimicrobials may cause antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria.

In most cases, the main antimicrobial chemicals used are either triclosan or polyhexamethylene biguanide.  Additionally, most of these commercial deodorants fail to prevent the bad odor caused by apocrine sweat combined with the bacteria.

This is why we suggest the following homemade natural deodorant:

Ingredients:

• 1/4 cup baking soda
• 5-6 tablespoons Coconut oil
• 1/4 cup arrowroot powder
• 10 drop of any essential oil

Instructions:

Mix coconut oil, baking soda, and arrowroot powder in a suitable container, and stir well with a spoon. Then, add the essential oil, and transfer the mixture to a container with a lid, and store in the fridge.

It will definitely be a bit strange to use this natural deodorant at first, but as soon as you experience its great effects, you will definitely never go back to the harmful, store-bought deodorants again.
