It is a very popular and appreciated exercise, as it is capable of sculpting the abdomen in less time than classic abdominal exercises: the “plank” exercise works the whole body, and is an excellent ally for losing weight. Below we explain how it works, and list the benefits.
The exercise, which should be performed every day for a few minutes, gradually increasing the intensity, might seem easy but in reality it is not.
It consists of lying on a mat, supporting the body with the elbows while contracting the abdominal muscles, for several minutes.
It is a great exercise for strengthening your back muscles, buttocks and arms.
Lie on the floor, with your abdomen facing down. Bend your elbows at 90 degrees, so as to align them with your shoulders: your body must form a straight line from head to heels, resting only on your forearms and toes.
Contract your muscles and hold the position for about 1 or 2 minutes, gradually increasing as the days go by.
- Buttocks: this exercise also involves the gluteal muscles and hamstrings of the legs;
- Back: The plank exercise also trains the muscles of the back, shoulders and part of the neck. It is excellent for relaxing back muscles, and can prevent neck osteochondrosis;
- Legs: The exercise causes a burning sensation in the leg muscles. There is no need to worry, it means that they are working correctly;
- Abdomen: this exercise allows you to work perfectly on the abdominal muscles of the lower and lateral parts.
